Cannabis Sativa Definition
The annual cannabis plant, sativa strain is a putative species of the genus Cannabis that is native to eastern Asia. Hemp or cannabis made from sativa plants is typically used as a psychoactive drug. Many times it is characterized as more stimulating (creating energetic effects) in effect than the indica variety.
However, due to widespread cultivation and legalization in many US states it can be found anywhere there’s adequate water and sunlight. Whether it and indica strains are truly separate species also depends on who you ask!
Sativa Strains
Sativa Dominant
An sativa-dominant strain from hemp flower, delta-8 flower or marijuana are made from a hybrid (combination) of an sativa strain and indica strain, but it has a higher percentage of sativa in terms of its growth pattern and the effects it has on the end user. A purely sativa strain would have no indica characteristics whatsoever.
