What is CBDVA?
CBDVA, or cannabidivarinic acid, is the acid precursor to CBDV, which is a derivative of CBD. It is known that CBDV was first discovered decades ago, in 1969, but information regarding the discovery of CBDVA is far more unclear.
There currently isn’t much research into CBDVA, and therefore there is very little information regarding the cannabinoid. For this reason, information about its effects and potential benefits are largely based on its connection to CBD.
Chemical Makeup
CBDVA is what is known as a cannabidiolic acid. Cannabidiolic acids are acidic precursors to CBD and its various derivatives. CBDVA converts into CBDV through the process of decarboxylation, which is a complicated way of saying heat exposure.
Legality of CBDVA
Because hemp-derived CBD is now legal thanks to the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, it’s highly likely that CBDVA is also federally legal provided it was derived from hemp containing less than .3% THC.
Effects of CBDVA
Given the limited research on CBDVA, its potential effects are largely inferred from its relationship to CBD.
CBD is associated with a range of potential supportive qualities, such as promoting comfort, supporting a healthy inflammation response, and possibly aiding in mood balance. It’s important to emphasize that any potential attributes of CBDVA are speculative based on the known characteristics of CBD.
